Why a blog for IWD

30 January 2012 at 4:58 pm

Women in London (WiL) – http://www.womeninlondon.org.uk – was originally set up as a project of Microsyster (a women’s computer group – http://www.womeninlondon.org.uk/microsyster/) although it is now an autonomous group run by volunteers to provide a listing service by and about women’s groups.

WiL was launched in February 1999 and in response to requests from groups we listed IWD events that year, but acknowledged we had been inspired by the innovative Quine web site now sadly inactive (http://www.quine.org.uk/). As WiL evolved each year we would feature IWD events in the UK and highlight them via our calendars etc., and in recent years have set up blogs – http://iwd2011.wordpress.com/http://iwd2010.wordpress.com/http://iwd2009.wordpress.com/http://iwd2008.wordpress.com/

So once again this year we hope to be able to put together information by and about activities and statements based on International Women’s Day 2012.
