EWAV Works presents – Women’s new world with Shere Hite – London ~ 8th, 9th and 15th March 2012

Internationally bestselling author and feminist Dr. Shere Hite will be joining Lola Atkins, founder of London social enterprise Eye with a View Works (EWAV Works), to run a series of events aimed at empowering young women and counteracting the negative messages they receive from the media.

The events will take the form of a talk and a workshop for young women. They will take place at universities across London, commencing on International Women’s Day (8th March) at The University of East London and throughout March with events at Kings College London, University College of London, Cambridge University, London Southbank University and London School of Economics.

All events are FREE and open to all so please come along!!!

Coventry Women’s Voices will be calling on women to Raise Your Voice for International Women’s Day on Saturday 10th March

We will be holding a stall outside Sainsbury’s in the City Centre (opposite Transport Museum) from 11-1.

Women will be asked to write a sentance or two about what they would like to say to the Council and Coventry MPs on megaphone shaped slips of paper. Coventry women’s Voices will collect these together and present them to the Council and Coventry MPs.

Come and make your voice heard, or help on the stall.

Other activities for International Women’s Day include:

Saturday 3rd March in London there is the Million Women Rise March

On Thursday 8th March there will be ‘Bridges of Peace and Hope’ for the future, on Millennium Bridge (outside the Transport Museum) between 12:00 – 13:00.

In the evening the Women of Achievement Awards night will be at the Britannia Hotel, Fairfax Street 8th March 2012, 18:30 onwards

Funny Women seek volunteers for WOW Festival – 9th-11th March 2012

From Friday 9th to Sunday 11th March, Funny Women will be appearing again at this year’s WOW (Women of the World) Festival at London’s Southbank Centre.

We have a stall over these three days in the WOW Fest market place and would be very grateful for any help you might be able to give us.

We’re looking for volunteers to help out with our stall and to promote Funny Women at the event.

I have devised a stall time table below and if you are able to help out, could you please drop me an email stating which slot/s you are able to do.

History walk: Manchester’s radical women ~ 4th March 2012

This walk will explore the history of radical women in Manchester including the Co-operative movement, the Town Hall, trade unionism, the Clarion movement, the Manchester Guardian and Peterloo

Meet at noon at Co-operative Bank Corporation Street, Manchester
