Trafford Council and Trafford Community Leisure Trust will be hosting the third International Women’s Day on 8 March 2012 at Stretford Leisure Centre from 10.30am to 2.30pm

To mark this year’s International Women’s Day on Thursday 8 March, Trafford Council is teaming up with Trafford Community Leisure Trust and a number of other organisations to hold its third annual celebration event.

Women across Trafford are being encouraged to go along to Stretford Leisure Centre between 10.30am and 2.30pm to try out a number of female only activities, a number of professionals will also be on hand to give free advice and guidance about fitness and health, training, career development, returning to work, benefits and more.

The theme this year is London 2012, with a focus on encouraging women into sport and improving health and wellbeing. There will be free sport taster sessions running throughout the day as well as a free crèche so mums with pre school children can bring them along and enjoy the day.

Executive Councillor Alex Williams said: “It was really pleasing to see lots of local women of all ages benefiting from coming along to the event in 2011; this year will be even bigger with lots of new activities and information available, as well as the addition of crèche facilities making it easier for even more women to enjoy. In the coming weeks we will be giving more detailed information about which organisations will be on hand on the day as well as releasing a full programme of women only free sports activities, put the 8 March in your calendars – it’s a day not to be missed”

International Women’s Day 2012 is linked to London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and will focus on encouraging women into sport and improving health and wellbeing.

On offer throughout the International Women’s Day event will be taster sessions, free draw into 12 months family membership to Trafford Leisure Centres, demonstrations led by female instructors, free crèche and much much more.
