2 March 2012 at 10:52 am

We’re holding three events to celebrate International Women’s Day. Two will be on the day itself, Thursday 8 March, and one will be on the previous Sunday.

Make Do & Mend

An event in recognition of the ingenuity and inventiveness of women through the ages. This lecture by Meridith Townsend starts right back in the Georgian Period and concentrates on how women altered, borrowed and adapted their clothes to keep up with the latest fashions. It goes on to concentrate on the War Years of the 1940s using anecdotes from women, who came up with the most ingenious ways to keep their families clothed and to continue to celebrate events, such as weddings, in style.

Tickets for ‘Make Do & Mend’ are priced at £4 and are available from www.feelinginspired.co.uk
