The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) and Scottish PEN are hosting an event to mark International Women’s Day, bringing together creative writers, scholars and critics. The event is free and open to all, including lunch and refreshments. Booking is essential as space is limited. Please email iash@ed.ac.uk to book a place.

Women in Scotland 2012 – The Big Picture
9.30am-4.30pm,The Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh
Engender’s one-day conference on International Women’s Day will bring people from across Scotland together to reflect on our progress towards gender equality. The event is an opportunity to hear speakers and take part in discussions around various topics.

“Abandon the Knife” & “Silent Scream” Female Genital Mutilation Film Screening
Monday 12 March 2012 at 6.00 pm, Filmhouse, Lothian Road

The Scottish Government is sponsoring this screening of two short films about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) at the Filmhouse, as part of events to commemorate International Women’s Day in March 2012.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion session chaired by Mukami McCrum (Scottish Government), and composed of Khadija Coll (African Women’s Health Project), Laura McCrum (Saheliya), Monica Mhoja (DARF)

Supported by the EUSA Global Fund, this is an ongoing book collection that can be accessed by both members and non members, which will promote literature of black origins.

Hearing, connecting, building is a feminist day school hosted by Scottish Women’s Aid at the University of Edinburgh on the 17th of March 2011. The day will be split into two main events: a day school and a networking event.

An International Women’s Day Event with Scottish Inter Faith Council
on Sunday, 11th March from 2-5pm at St John’s Church Hall, Princes Street, (corner of Princes Street and Lothian Road). Event includes healthy eating, complementary therapies, food for the soul and heart, arts and crafts and much more! Please drop in any time between 2 pm and 5 pm. Tea, coffee and healthy snacks provided.
