Women and austerity: Impact and resistance – TUC International Women’s Day 2012 – London ~ 8th March 2012

7 March 2012 at 4:19 pm

From 6:30pm to 9:00pm at General Council Chamber, Congress House, Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3LS

The TUC is holding an evening of discussion and music to mark International Women’s Day. At a time of austerity in Britain and the rest of Europe, as well as across the global economy, it is important to reflect on the impact this is having on women in particular. But we must also discuss what can be done to oppose austerity and rebuild the economy on the basis of fairness, equal rights and social justice.

Key speakers
* TUC Deputy General Secretary Frances O’Grady
* ETUC General Secretary Bernadette Segol

Along with messages from around the world there will be music and guests from the world of politics and development.

Food will be served at 7pm, and there will be a pay bar.

Attendance is free, but there is a strict limit on attendance so you must register in advance by emailing Pat Brown, pbrown@tuc.org.uk

Subsequently, if you have registered and then find you are no longer able to attend please let us know ASAP.
