Political Puppet Films on Child Pornography Industry & Prison System – London ~ 13th March 2012

9 March 2012 at 8:42 pm

Hooray for Hollywood, a puppet film for adults which premiered at Amnesty International, and has been supported by charities such as Childline. This film is set within the child pornography industry, and was written and directed by a survivor.

This criminal underworld is revealed in flashes and glimpses from a child’s vantage point. It presents a window on both human frailty and resilience.

It is based on the director’s life story. (22 min) The night will also feature ‘Prison?’ a visually rich and thought-provoking film by former political prisoner and outreach worker Charlie Ryder about his experiences in prison told through puppetry, masks, visual art, poetry and dance.

Charlie created the film to challenge perceptions of prison and prisoners. (88 min) A chance to discuss the two films will follow.
